Peaches

I took these photos a while back for one of my clients. Conner, if you're reading this, you're a peach. Except for when you read my blog.

throwback thursday

I missed 10 Things Tuesday, but I'm not surprised. Such is the life of a working girl... I never allow myself the time to blog when it's not for work. Siiiiigh.

Anyways, this isn't really a #TBT post. Last night my lovely friend Jordyn took me and Alana to a Tove Lo concert. I know, I know. Tove Lo - singer of radio hits "Talking Body" and "Habits" - can't be more than a two-hit wonder. Holy fucking shit was I wrong. I was completely blown away by her vocal chops. Suffice to say I really need to stop underestimating all of the mainstream artists on the radio.

We spent our Wednesday night singing and dancing (surrounded by hormonal teens, mind you) under the glow of her mere presence. And lights. A fuck ton of them, strobing and beating and flashing. I hadn't really escaped into that alternate universe in a long time - The one where everyone around you sweats to the beat of the music, where hearts race in unison, where eyes are closed but dancing under their lids. I missed it. And I want more of it.

I'm in love with a little Swedish girl. <3 Listen to my two favorites below.

ten things tuesday

Week two! Feeling good. Here we go:

Currently listening to:

1. My sister created a training plan for me for my first 10K and I've actually followed it so far.
2. When I was little, I carried a toy soldier named Joseph around in my pocket and talked to him.
3. I had my first major fuck up at work yesterday.
4. I'm going to Texas for the first time in two weeks!
5. I'm seeing my favorite band live for the first time in two weeks!
6. The ocean is the single scariest thing in the world to me.
7. I started using Amazon Prime and am now addicted.
8. I have far too many girl crushes than the average girl.
9. Someday, I hope I'll actually feel comfortable sharing this blog with my peers.
10. I'll be 24 in a month, which means it's time for me to start acting like an adult (right?).

ten things tuesday

I know it's been over a year since my last post, but this crazy thing happened today where I remembered I had a blog. And consequently, since it's Tuesday, here goes nothing. Here are 10 things that have happened over the past 384 days.

1. The below video should sum up 2014.

2014 from Katy Lohn on Vimeo.

2. I adopted two kittens with my roommate ex-roommate and they are my world.
3. I can add AUNTIE to my resume - I have a five-month old nephew and he is also my world.
4. 2015 has been full of newness.
5. Come November, I will have visited nine different states and three different countries in five months.
6. Goodreads is addicting.
7. Football season started last weekend, but more importantly, hockey season is in less than a month.
8. My best friend left me for Nashville last month. I don't think she's coming back. TORI I MISS YOU.
9. I'm going to at least post every Tuesday starting today.
10. I think I might have just started a new chapter of my life. It's great.

ILY, NYC

I originally wrote this post for Free People, but thought I'd share it here :)

Post image for Guest Post: I Love You, New York

My love for the West Coast always has and always will flow deep through my veins.  However, transplanting myself to Philadelphia after twenty two years in the Pacific Northwest was equally one of the most terrifying and most exhilarating moments in my life. I’ve been missing my old, rainy stomping grounds in Portland and Seattle, but luckily a little bit of home made his way across the country for me this past week.  I hadn’t let myself truly embrace the East Coast yet – distracted by my longing for home – but together my favorite person and I explored everything that makes the East Coast its own world.  After traveling through seven states in less time than it takes to drive through California, I have a greater appreciation for the East Coast.  Philadelphia is where we go to see history at present.  Washington, D.C. is a place to reflect on where we’ve been and who we’ve become.  New York City is a temptress that will test our limits and realize our passions.  It’s funny… I’ve heard time and time again that people come to Manhattan to find love.  I don’t think many realize that there are so many things – not just people – to fall in love with.  Thankfully, that’s what I did this past weekend. I’m already in love with my best friend, so this weekend I fell in love alongside him.  We didn’t fall in love with each other in the city, but we fell in love with the city together.
It isn’t home… But I think it could be.

September

My summer in Philly is coming to a close in a few hours and it has been nearly impossible to track everything I've discovered and accomplished over the past two months. Ahhh okay okay I was about to get all thoughtful and sensitive but honestly, this is the point of this post: I've gotten really into choosing music for Free People stores and I'd like to share 10 songs that made up my summer. Also I made a pretty picture so APPRECIATE IT. This playlist is unofficially called "GURLS WHO ROCK" (as you'll see, all of the artists are women or female-lead). But, for personal reasons, I'm naming it September. Hopefully, this will force me to follow up with an October playlist. P.S., I'm well aware that it's still August.

JD

"there is no way to be truly great in this world. we are all impaled on the crook of conditioning. a fish that is in the water had no choice that he is. genius would have it that we swim in sand. we are fish and we drown."
